Welcome to Happy Valley

Happy Valley was originally called Christilla Valley, named after the first residents, Christian and Matilda Deardorff.   Officially incorporated as Happy Valley in 1965. It remained a small community until the late 1990s, when urbanization of the surrounding area became inevitable. Happy Valley became one of the fastest-growing cities in Oregon. Portland State University's Population Research Center estimated the population to be 7,275 on July 1, 2005, a 61% increase over the 2000 Census[2]. Due to phenomenal growth, the USPS issued Happy Valley its own Zip code, 97086, effective July 1, 2006. Previously, it shared with other surrounding cities.

Demographics indicate 77% of adults are married. Approximately 13% of Happy Valley is non-white. Diversity is a hallmark of Happy Valley.

Well educated homeowners –

In 2000, Happy Valley had a median family income of $95,922. Most of the residents of Happy Valley tend to have good incomes. In the city, most people are middle class or better.  It's worth noting that college degrees are common in the city.

New construction of larger affordable homes lured families to this community, as well as the close eastside location, offering an easy commute to downtown or travelers heading to the Portland International Airport.

Happy Valley is part of the North Clackamas School District and most students attend Happy Valley Elementary School, Spring Mountain Elementary School, Sunrise Middle School, and Clackamas High School.
